The Olympian Health Study

World Olympians Association has commissioned the largest ever global health study of Olympians.

This study is the first-ever commissioned to better understand the long-term health of Olympians and elite athletes after they retire. Almost 5000 Olympians from around the world have taken part.

At present, the lead researcher Dr Debbie Palmer OLY and her team are evaluating the data collected from the study in order to:

  • Understand the main long-term health issues related to Olympic-level performance
  • Generate new insights into those issues
  • Develop data-driven recommendations to safeguard Olympians’ health.

We look forward to sharing the results of the Olympians Health Study with you in mid-2019 and continuing to support Olympians globally.
