5 | 2 | 2019

World Olympians Association, in partnership with the International Olympic Academy (IOA), is offering two Olympians an incredible opportunity to travel to the birthplace of the Olympic Games as part of the 59th International Session for Young Participants.

WOA has been invited to send two Olympians (one male / one female, aged 20-35) to the International Session, which is taking place in Athens, Greece from 1-15 June 2019. WOA will cover flights, accommodation, local transportation and boarding expenses.

Join young people from around the world to learn more about the Olympic Movement and put that knowledge to practical use in your home country by sharing your experiences and educating others about the Olympic ideals.

CLICK HERE to nominate yourself or another Olympian for a chance to be part of this amazing opportunity (please see full eligibility criteria below). The deadline for registration is Wednesday, 20 February 2019.

Background:

The two-week International Young Participants Session is run by the IOA and is designed as an introduction to Olympism and the Olympic Movement. The session brings together a large international group of young people who are primarily students, Olympians and people active in sport.

The aim of the IOA is to educate, but more importantly, motivate young people to use their experiences and knowledge gained from the Session to proactively promote the Olympic Ideals and educate others in their own countries.

The programme will include lectures, Q&A’s, group discussion meetings, presentations by participants, field trips to archaeological sites and museums, such as Ancient Olympia, and research opportunities.

At the end of the Session, the IOA will publish a full report together with the lectures, and a summary of the proceedings will be presented at the annual IOC Session.

An integral and invaluable part of this fantastic opportunity is the extracurricular activities, which include sports tournaments, games, art, song, dance, poetry and literature workshops and numerous social events and activities.
