Become WOA’s new Africa Development Officer
6 | 7 | 2021
Join the WOA team and help grow our community of NOAs and Olympians in Africa.
We’re looking for a professional and enthusiastic Development Officer to represent WOA, support the expansion of NOAs across Africa and help raise the profile and influence of Olympians in society.
The WOA Development Officer’s main responsibilities will include facilitating positive relations and collaboration between NOAs, NOCs and Athletes’ Commissions, providing NOA training, education and support and empowering Olympians to make the world a better place through sport.
WOA’s NOA Development Programme launched in 2018 with the appointment of our Development Officer for Asia, Jovina Choo OLY. We expanded the programme to the Americas in 2019 with the addition of Amaranta Acosta, Development Officer for Americas.
Jovina and Amaranta have been instrumental in enhancing the capabilities of existing NOAs in Asia and the Americas and provide both face to face and remote support to NOAs across their region.
Jovina Choo OLY, WOA Development Manager, Asia, said:
"As WOA's Development Officers, we provide direct guidance and assistance to NOAs, developing and expanding their ability to support their Olympians and run projects that benefit their communities. It is fulfilling to see our work make a real difference for all Olympians across the region.
“The NOAs of Africa are growing rapidly. We have seen the huge positive impact of Development Officers in Asia and the Americas so we know that a WOA Development Officer in Africa will really speed up the progress of NOAs there.”
Our ideal candidate would be an Olympian from Africa, speak fluent English and French and be available to travel for work. The initial contract will be for six months.
