The International Olympic Committee’s Athlete Learning Gateway is celebrating a record 2016 and is looking forward to supporting even more Olympians in 2017.
Last year more than 5,640 new users joined the Athlete Learning Gateway, which now has over 14,000 members using the interactive platform and online tool worldwide. The Gateway provides athletes, coaches and their entourage with free courses and seminars aimed at boosting performances and shaping their future careers.
Six new courses were added to its programme in 2016 – including Nutrition, Sports Management, Building your Athlete Brand and The Art and Science of Coaching - meaning Olympians now have more than 20 free online courses to choose from.
In 2017 a further nine new courses will be added covering topics such as injury prevention and entrepreneurship. There will also be a new feature titled chat with champions, which will offer athletes exclusive access to, and the opportunity to ask advice from, Olympic champions and top coaches.
Olympians can also interact with fellow athletes within the Gateway Community. Here, more than 2,000 athletes and coaches discuss their achievements and challenges, access the latest news, view articles from industry experts and read exclusive interviews with Olympic champions.
The Athlete Learning Gateway was launched in July 2015 following a recommendation from the IOC Athletes’ and Athletes’ Entourage Commissions. This free educational resource is continuously evolving to meet the needs of athletes and their entourage.
