NOAs are using their WOA grants to support Olympians off the field of play, launch Olympian-led community initiatives and aid the world’s recovery from COVID-19.
Supported by a WOA Service to Society grant, the Mexican NOA adapted its successful Olympic Sports Traffic Light programme inspiring 300,000 people to safely participate in physical activity and ran webinars to train sports practitioners.
Despite all sports activities remaining on hold, the Angolan NOA signed an MOU for the Nucleo Petrol Basketball initiative to ensure support can be immediately activated once sport resumes. The programme will engage street children in sport and allow them to learn from Olympians.
Puerto Rico’s NOA has more than doubled their Olympian membership and, using a Service to Olympians grant, a webinar series and a new website were launched to provide education opportunities, including on new WADA regulations.
Applications for WOA’s 2021 grants will open early in the New Year.
