The Portuguese Olympians Association recently hosted a successful 3-day event in the city of Cascais.
The celebration included an OLY Presentation with 150 Portuguese Olympians, a visit by Portuguese Olympians to a local school and a meeting of WOA’s Executive Committee.
The event was part funded by a Service to Olympians WOA Grant and funding from the local government and sponsors. Presence included the Mayor of the City of Cascais Carlos Carreiras, the President of the Portuguese Olympic Committee José Manuel Constantino, the President of Portuguese Youth Sport Institute Vítor Pataco and the President of the Portuguese Sports Foundation Paulo Frischknecht OLY. The event was hosted by Luis Alves Monteiro OLY, President of the Portuguese Olympians Association. Along with celebrating Portuguese Olympians the event aimed to create a detailed database of Olympians and empower them to deliver local programmes to help those in need.
