Join the OLYversary celebrations

This month marks a special milestone for WOA as we celebrate 5 years since the launch of OLY in 2017. The first recipients were our Patron HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco OLY, our President Joel Bouzou OLY and our Honorary President, IOC President Thomas Bach OLY. They have now been joined by over 20,000 other Olympians who have applied for and received this special recognition of their achievements at the Olympic Games and as ambassadors of the Olympic Values.

A number of OLYversary celebrations have already taken place:

In Mexico the Olympians Association, as part of their Day of the Dead celebrations, awarded OLY certificates to the families and friends of ten of the most iconic Olympians in Mexican history who have passed away. Traditional altars inspired by the Olympic Values were designed for the Olympians.

Olympians from Africa and Europe came together on the SpatialChat platform to mix and mingle and listen to a panel discussion on future OLY activities led by WOA Vice President Pernilla Wiberg OLY. WOA President Joël Bouzou OLY opened the celebration which was organised by our Development Officer for Africa Sandrine Billiet OLY.

Australia and Philippines and others have told us they have plans to celebrate OLYversary as part of their Olympians’ gatherings this month.

To wrap up OLYversary month we will be hosting a special presentation with WOA Patron HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco OLY and WOA President Joel Bouzou OLY. Stay tuned for more updates.
