The OLY House Paris 2024 Theatre was full for a private screening of the Edwin Moses OLY documentary Moses - 13 Steps. The film shows the life of Edwin Moses OLY both as an athlete who was undefeated for nine years, nine months and nine days (winning 122 consecutive races), two-time Olympic Champion and world record holder and as the man who continues to fight for justice and equality in sport and in life. The film has its public world-wide premiere in September at Edwin’s alma mater Morehouse College.
Following the film Edwin spoke about his life and answered questions for over an hour and then went to watch the Games on the Big Screen at OLY House. Edwin said: “I was so pleased to watch the film with other Olympians, family and friends and to see their positive and sometimes emotional reactions. It was a very moving experience for me too.”
Edwin has been a regular at OLY House along with his son Julian. Edwin chatted with 94-year-old Olympian Rose Voisk who competed in the 1948 London Games. “She’s a real inspiration,” said Moses. “I just hope I have half her energy when I’m her age.”
Edwin also enjoyed watching the 400m hurdles on the Big Screen at OLY House. When his name was mentioned by the commentators when the race was about to start the crowd in the marquee in the garden clapped and cheered. Edwin said: “I’ve had such a good time at OLY House. It’s so relaxed and easy. Truly a home from home for me and my son.”
The OLY House Film Festival is showing it’s final film today: The Sirens of Ukraine. Olympians can still vote for their favourite film or documentary which will be given the Olympians Choice award. Olympians can vote here.
