The fourth World Olympians Association’s World Olympians Forum (WOF) will be held in Monaco in the beginning of September in conjunction with the WOA General Assembly. The one-day WOF will be on Tuesday September 2 and the General Assembly on Wednesday September 3. The 150 attendees will arrive on September 1 and depart on September 4.
Previous World Olympians Forums were held in Moscow in 2015, in Lausanne in 2019 and in Istanbul in 2023. This year’s World Olympians Forum will be streamed live as was successfully done in Istanbul two years ago. The Forum will once again be the place where the WOA’s 111 National Associations share best practices and inspirational stories, hear from world renowned experts and government officials on sports management, projects for the social good, health, governance and safety and take part in workshops to enhance their skills and build their connections with each other.
The WOA General Assembly will look back at the last four years and ahead to the next four up to the LA 2028 Olympic Games. The WOA President, Secretary General and Treasurer will be directly elected by all the delegates at the General Assembly and each of the five Continental Groupings of National Olympians Associations will elect two Executive Committee representatives, one male and one female.
The events, which were expected to be held in Taipei, have been relocated to Monaco for operational reasons.
WOA President Joël Bouzou OLY said: “We are very grateful to our Patron, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, for his show of support for the WOA by giving us the opportunity to host these two very important events in the principality of Monaco. Monaco is one of the world leading centres for international prestige events such as the Monaco Grand Prix, the Monte Carlo Television Festival and Sportel Monaco.
“The previous three World Olympians Forums have been exceptional as our National Olympians Associations shared their best practices and projects, gained knowledge imparted from the expert speakers, and built connections through the discussions, workshops and cultural events at the Forum. The WOA General Assembly, held after every summer edition of the Olympic Games, is where our members have their say on the future direction of the WOA and the programmes, projects and services we provide for them and for all Olympians.”
