WOA President Joel Bouzou’s scheduled speech to National Olympic Committees at the ANOC General Assembly on 30 October 2016 included an offer for NOCs to use the WOA's Olympians Reunion Centre presented by EY in Rio for functions, meetings and events.
The ORC presented by EY at the iconic Flamengo Club is a fantastic multi-use space built with the needs of Olympians and the Olympic Family in mind. First and foremost its a drop-in centre for Olympians to meet old friends and make new ones while enjoying the Games in comfort in the middle of Rio just by the Rowing venue. But it is also a great space for meetings, functions and cocktails. During his speech for ANOC Joel Bouzou offered NOCs the chance to book the ORC but said that the space was in high demand so anyone interested needed to get in touch quickly through firstname.lastname@example.org.
In his speech the WOA President also encouraged NOCs and NOAs to work more closely together, using the USOC and USOPA as an example and sharing recommendations from the recent World Olympians Forum in Moscow. He also asked NOCs to support the historic Declaration of Support for the Olympic Charter which was signed by five Olympians, one from each of the five continents, as representatives of all Olympians.
As Joel was unable to attend the ANOC General Assembly in person for family reasons he recorded his speech which can be seen here.
