WOA Offers Condolences in Chapecoense Tragedy

World Olympians Association joins members of the Olympic and sporting communities around the world who have come together to express shock and deep sadness at the plane crash in Colombia that has claimed the lives of 71 people, including members of the Brazilian Chapecoense football team and its touring party.
WOA offers its deepest sympathy to the club and its community as well as to the friends and family of those who were lost in this tragic event.
Joël Bouzou, President of the World Olympians Association, said:
“It was with great sadness that we learned about the tragic plane crash in Colombia that killed 71 people. Among victims there were members of the Brazilian Chapecoense football team and a number of sports journalists.
No doubt this sad event is a tragedy for the entire sport community and we are mourning this great loss. On behalf of World Olympians Association we would like to extend our sincerest condolences to their families, colleagues and the football family. Our thoughts are also with those who survived the catastrophe and we wish them a quick recovery.”
