Mexican Olympians train to be professional speakers
3 | 3 | 2023
Twenty-five Mexican Olympians met at the Mexican Olympic Committee to take part in the Sport as an Inspiration workshop where they learned how to share their stories in sport in an engaging and inspiring manner.
The Olympians will now put their learnings into practice in schools and sport spaces where they will inspire children and young adults to achieve their dreams, practice sport and live with the Olympic values.
NOA President Daniel Aceves OLY said:
“We were very happy to see a large group of Mexican Olympians learning how to tell their stories to inspire the youngsters. I attended the workshop as a participant and enjoyed the exchange of thoughts, stories and Olympic feelings. I would like to thank all my Olympian colleagues for taking part and especially Javier Careaga OLY who submitted the project through our NOA and ran the workshop with a group of experts.’
Some of the Olympians who were part of the workshop were:
- Germán Madrazo OLY (cross-country skiing, PyeongChang 2018)
- Daniel Vargas OLY (volleyball, Rio 2016)
- Fatima Leyva OLY (football, Athens 2004)
- Patricia Kohlmann (swimming, Los Angeles 1984, Seoul 1988)
Patricia Kohlmann (Los Angeles 1984, Seoul 1988) said:
‘It was an amazing day. It was great learning how to communicate my story and sharing this learning process and experience with my fellow Olympians. I am now looking forward to putting everything I learned into practice.’
The project was funded by a 2022 WOA Service to Olympians Grant. Applications for this years’ Service to Olympians and Service to Society Grants are still open. Apply now at olympians.org. For more information contact us at info@thewoa.org.
