World Olympians Association congratulates Olympians Ryu Seung-min OLY and Kim Ki-hoon who will serve as "mayors" of the Athletes' Villages for the PyeongChang2018 Olympic Winter Games.
Four-time Olympian Ryu, an IOC Member and member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission, will manage the PyeongChang Olympic Village while Kim, a short track speed skater who won his country’s first Winter Olympic gold medal at the Albertville Games in 1992, will take charge of the Gangneung Olympic Village.
Ryu, the 2004 Olympic men's table tennis champion, can’t wait to welcome his fellow Olympians to his home Games. “It is an honour and a privilege to take on the role of Athletes’ Village mayor for PyeongChang 2018. I look forward to extending the hand of friendship to all Olympians who are coming to my country to compete in the Games. I will do my very best to provide the best condition to my fellow athletes and if you have any questions or some comments my door is always open for you"
The PyeongChang Olympic Village will house athletes competing in snow events taking place in the PyeongChang Mountain Cluster and nearby Jeongseon Alpine Centre, while the Gangneung Olympic Village will be home to athletes competing in ice sports such as hockey, curling and all forms of skating.
