The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) has become the first International Federation to award the prestigious OLY title to all Olympians currently serving on its Executive Board.

At a special presentation held during the UIPM’s 70th Anniversary celebrations and Congress, seven Olympians received a framed OLY certificate and pin from UIPM President Dr Klaus Schormann and UIPM Vice-President Joël Bouzou OLY, President of World Olympians Association.

Kitty Chiller OLY (AUS), Aya Medany OLY (EGY), Janusz Peciak OLY (POL), Jorge Salas OLY (ARG), Rob Stull OLY (USA), Dmitry Svatkovsky OLY (RUS) and Andrejus Zadneprovskis OLY (LTU) join more than 10,000 Olympians worldwide who have been granted this exclusive honour, which serves as a constant, public reminder of their achievements in the field of sport and symbolic recognition of an Olympian’s status in society.

“I would like to extend my warm congratulations to my colleagues within the UIPM Executive Board, who have been honoured with the OLY title in recognition of their achievements and their responsibility to embody the values of Olympism in everyday life,” said WOA President Joël Bouzou OLY.

“I am delighted that UIPM has chosen its 70th Anniversary celebrations to pay tribute to the Olympians whose leadership makes such a difference to the sport of Modern Pentathlon – the first International Federation to do so - and I encourage other governing bodies to do same.”

WOA is pleased to support International Federations and Olympic Family organisations in recognising and honouring Olympians within their organisations with OLY. For more information, please contact sarah.burston@thewoa.org
