The World Olympians Association, the alumni organisation of the over 100,000 living Olympians from all continents, fully endorses the IOC position calling for all International Federations and event owners to pull their events from Russia and Belarus in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The invasion is a clear violation of the Olympic Truce which calls for the peaceful resolution of international disputes and which was re-signed by Russia prior to the recent Winter Olympics in Beijing.
WOA President Joël Bouzou OLY said: “Sport can be a strong force for peace as it brings together athletes, administrators and fans from all countries. WOA implores all nations to abide by the Olympic Truce."
