IOC and WOA issue Joint Declaration
13 | 1 | 2026
We are very pleased to announce that we have agreed a Joint Declaration with the IOC that spells out the key points of our recently signed agreement and the benefits arising from that for National Olympians Associations and Olympians.
The Declaration demonstrates the close relationship between our two organisations and our mutual desire to ensure that the needs of Olympians are met and the National Olympians Associations are given the tools they need to be as strong as they can be for the benefit of their members and society at large.
As the Declaration states: “IOC and WOA will work closely together to support NOAs and help them engage and empower Olympians to foster Olympism in their communities.”
The Declaration also re-affirms the IOC’s commitment to support the WOA going forward in a number of ways including financially. And it re-affirms the WOA’s commitment to continue to comply with the Olympic Charter, and the IOC Code of Ethics, including the Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance within the Olympic Movement.
The IOC will be promoting OLY sign-ups in the Olympic Villages at the Milan-Cortina Games, as they have done at past Games. And the IOC will be represented at the upcoming WOA General Assembly and World Olympians Forum. WOA will be promoting the various IOC Athlete365 initiatives and services for Olympians, as we did at OLY House Paris 2024.
