Following on from the WOA’s recent election the newly constituted WOA Executive Committee (EXCO) has elected Igor Boraska OLY from Croatia and Rosa Rakotozafy OLY of Madagascar as Vice-Presidents.
After each general election the WOA Executive Committee elects two Vice-Presidents from among its members elected by their Continental Grouping. Igor and Rosa replace Pernilla Wiberg OLY, now the WOA President and Mikako Kotani OLY, who did not stand for re-election to the WOA Executive Committee.
WOA President Pernilla Wiberg OLY said: “We wanted to have a combination of experience, fresh eyes and gender balance. Igor has served with distinction on the WOA Executive Committee and Rosa, as a new member of EXCO, can look with a fresh perspective at how we operate.
“Rosa becomes our first Vice-President from Africa underlining the growth of the WOA in that continent and the importance we place on ensuring diverse voices are heard as we formulate policy and review our actions.”
Rosa Rakotozafy OLY said: “I was delighted to be elected as the female representative on EXCO from Africa. This is an additional honour. I will work closely with the other EXCO members to help build the capacity of the WOA and our National Olympians Associations.”
Igor Boraska OLY said: “Having a blend of experience and new perspectives is so important for any organisation. I’m happy that I will be able to continue to support the good work of the WOA as we seek to continue to improve our services to Olympians to enable them to serve the needs of their communities through the power of sport and the Olympic ideals.”
