IFs show support for #TargetEbola

International Federations including the Federation Internationale de Ski [FIS]Fédération Internationale de Basketball [FIBA] and the International Shooting Sport Federation [ISSF] took to social media last week to show support for the WOA’s #TargetEbola campaign after a presentation by WOA CEO Mike Miller urged the Olympic Movement to get behind the fundraising campaign at the SportAccord IF Forum in Lausanne.

The presentation showcased what the #TargetEbola campaign has achieved so far to raise awareness of the effects of Ebola in West Africa, highlighting support from Olympians including Usain Bolt, Carl Lewis, Sergey Bubka, Claudia Bokel, Koji Murofushi, Pernilla Wiberg, Yang Yang, Jonny Quinn and Sammy Walker.

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco also recorded a video please last week to encourage fellow Olympians to join the #TargetEbola campaign

The WOA has joined forces with Oxfam, one of the world's leaders in emergency response, and US humanitarian NGO Medisend International, a global leader and innovator in transforming healthcare systems in developing countries.

Oxfam's teams are working with local communities to stop the spread of Ebola by ensuring people know how to protect themselves. They are also providing treatment centres and communities with safe water and sanitation facilities. Medisend International is training healthcare workers and shipping critical medical and personal protective supplies to doctors and nurses on the front lines of the battle against Ebola.

The WOA is appealing to the rest of its 100,000 strong Olympian community around the world to get involved and publicise #TargetEbola, the donation link,, and the SMS details, Text TARGET to 70066 [UK only], by posting selfies via social media.

Olympians and the general public are encouraged to print off the kit and pose for a selfie. Alternatively anyone can write #TargetEbola, and the SMS number on a piece of paper and take a selfie with it.
