WOA Launches Olympic Day Countdown

22 | 5 | 2015

With one month to go until Olympic Day Olympians everywhere are busy planning activities to mark the 67th edition of the global event and the WOA will be there along the way to bring you the latest updates from members around the world in its Olympic Day countdown.

A celebration of Olympism will take place on 23 June as International Federations, National Olympic Committees and Olympians come together to embrace the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect through sport and education.

Following our successful 2014 Olympic Day countdown the WOA will again be sharing all the latest news and events from Olympians who are getting involved and organising sports, cultural and educational activities around the three Olympic Day pillars of ‘Move,’ Learn’ and ‘Discover’ to encourage everyone to take part and get active, regardless of age, gender, social background or sporting ability.

The aim this year is to do it even better – Faster, Higher, Stronger! So let us know what you’re up to on Olympic Day and we can share your inspirational stories, events and pictures on our digital and social platforms. You can send updates on your Olympic Day activities to info@thewoa.org

If you haven't done so already get in touch with your National Olympic Committee to find out how you can involve your members in Olympic Day activities in your country. You can also find out more information about Olympic Day on the IOC website http://www.olympic.org/olympic-day.

If there are no local Olympic Day activities planned it’s not too late to set up a small event. Apply here for a WOA NOA Development Grant or get in touch with us for advice at info@thewoa.org.

We are excited to learn about the work our members are doing to spread the Olympic spirit to their communities across the world so please do what you can to support this initiative.

We look forward to sharing your inspiring activities.
