24 | 7 | 2015

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for female athletes looking to further their business careers.

Global professional services provider, EY, in partnership with the the International Women’s Forum (IWF), the pre-eminent global business network of 6,000 women leaders across 33 countries, is calling for applications to its 2016 Women Athletes Business Network (WABN) Mentoring Programme.

The WABN initiative seeks to match 25 retired or retiring elite women athletes with prominent IWF members in order to open doors and create next-chapter opportunities. In the inaugural year in 2015, the mentoring programme accepted women representing 14 countries and 17 sports.

To apply for a place in next year’s programme please click here and complete the online application form. The deadline for applications is 01 August 2015.

EY has extensive experience working with Olympians and will also partner with the WOA to deliver the Olympians Reunion Centre in Rio de Janeiro at next year’s Olympic Games.

Holly Humphrey, Director of Strategic Programs and Olympic Marketing at EY, said:

“EY is focused on helping to advance women’s leadership around the world and we encourage all female athletes to become part of this powerful network. As high profile sportswomen and influential leaders, female athletes not only inspire the next generation of women in sport but can also use their experience to make an impact in the business world.”

EY launched the WABN in 2013 with the aim of providing a platform for elite female athletes —current and retired women athletes who have competed at the university, semi-professional, professional, national, international or Olympic level — to network with each other and share experiences.

WABN members can also connect with successful businesspeople, called WABN advisors, on a variety of career and leadership topics, ask questions and seek advice on post-sport careers.
