The Tajikistan Olympians Association celebrated International Children’s Day last week by organising a checkers competition for 24 disabled children from different areas of the country including, Khujand, Isfara and Spitamen.

Gifts were presented to all participants and competition winners were awarded with special prizes. Following the competition, an ‘Olympic Seminar’ was also carried out by local volunteers. The seminar focused on the importance of Olympic values and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

Speaking about the events Tajikistan NOA PresidentZebiniso Rustamova, said:

“It’s wonderful to give these young children the opportunity to participate in and enjoy these fun activities. We also made an effort to educate the children about the ideals of Olympism and the importance of living healthy lifestyles. This is something that we feel is very important and we will always promote this philosophy to the children of Tajikistan.”
