Help Jamaican Olympians rebuild after the hurricane

Jamaican Olympians are reaching out to the worldwide Olympian community to help them rebuild a much-loved sports facility severely damaged by Hurricane Melissa. For generations, St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) has been more than just a school; it has been a home, a pathway to success, and a place where young people learn to dream bigger—both academically and athletically. The school has produced world-class athletes, Olympians, and future leaders.

With the girls' dormitories in urgent need of repair, the National Association of Jamaican Olympians (NAJO) is calling on you to help rebuild STETHS and support the next generation of student-athletes.

All funds raised through the GoFundMe project will be dedicated solely to restoring the roof of the girls’ dormitory at St. Elizabeth Technical High School. The National Association of Jamaican Olympians will oversee the management of these funds to ensure transparency and accountability.

Cathy Rattray OLY, NAJO Secretary said: “Hurricane Melissa left significant damage in its wake, and St. Elizabeth Technical High School—one of Jamaica’s most respected institutions—was among the hardest hit. Young Jamaican female athletes depend on this safe, stable living environment to continue their education and athletic training. Quickly restoring STETHS will ensure continuity and give them hope for the future.”

For generations it has nurtured discipline, resilience, and excellence—values that shaped many of Jamaica’s Olympians long before they wore national colours. STETHS was not only where athletic talent was developed, but where character was formed, dreams were encouraged, and lifelong lessons were learned.
