Fourth World Olympians Forum host announced

The fourth WOA World Olympians Forum (WOF), which will take place later this year in conjunction with the WOA General Assembly, will be held in Taipei. The date for the WOF will be announced shortly. Previous World Olympians Forums  were held in Moscow in 2015, in Lausanne in 2019 and in Istanbul in 2023.

This year’s World Olympians Forum will be streamed live as was successfully done in Istanbul two years ago. The Forum will once again be the place where the WOA’s 111 National Associations share best practices and inspirational stories, hear from world renowned experts in sports management, health, governance and safety and take part in workshops to enhance their skills and build their connections with each other.

WOA President Joël Bouzou OLY said: “The previous World Olympians Forums have been an inspiration to me, our Executive Committee members and our National Associations (NOAs). We all learned so much through the NOAs sharing their best practices and projects, through the knowledge imparted from the expert speakers and through the connections we built or made through the discussions, workshops and cultural events at the Forum.

Joël added: “We are very excited about the WOF taking place in Asia for the first time. Taipei, with its long history of the promotion of sport, physical wellbeing and support for their communities is the perfect place to host the 150 or so Olympians, speakers and guests who will attend the Forum. As just one example, Olympians from the Taipei NOA visited the disaster-struck National Dong Hwa University last year to raise awareness and bring support for reconstruction efforts following the severe damage caused by the devastating earthquake in that region. They brought with them supplies and funds donated by Olympians.”

Chih-Hsiung Huang, President of Taipei Olympians Association said:

“The WOA Forum and General Assembly in Taipei will be a landmark event, uniting together visionary leaders and athletes to celebrate excellence, foster collaboration, and shape the future of sports. As we uphold Olympic values, this gathering will reinforce global sportsmanship, unity, and the pursuit of world peace. Taipei is honoured to host this event and share its advancements in technology and culture, inspiring new ideas and a brighter future for all.”

Hong-Dow Lin, President of Taipei Olympic Committee said: “Jointly promoting the Olympic spirit and movement is a core value shared by the Taipei Olympians Association and this National Olympic Committee. We sincerely welcome Olympic leaders from over 100 countries to gather in Taipei, giving us a great opportunity to fulfil our responsibilities as global citizens.”

Further details including the dates of the Forum and access to the e-WOF will be announced soon.
