The WOA General Assembly has approved three new National Olympians Associations (NOAs) as members, expanding its global network. The new member associations are from Grenada, Maldives, and Palestine, bringing the total number of NOAs to 111.
Maldives Olympians Association President, Shajan Aminath OLY, expressed her enthusiasm: “Joining the WOA family is a significant milestone for us. We are excited to provide our Olympians with the support and resources they need to continue making a positive impact in our community.”
Each new NOA will receive full support from the WOA, including guidance from Development Officers who played a key role in helping these associations meet the membership criteria. These NOAs are eligible to apply for the annual WOA Development Grant and the Service to Society/Service to Olympians grants and will benefit from a range of other resources offered by WOA.
WOA President Joël Bouzou OLY welcomed the new members, stating: “We are thrilled to welcome Grenada, Maldives, and Palestine to the WOA family. Their inclusion strengthens our community and allows us to spread the Olympic Values to even more regions around the world. Our thanks go out to the Executive Committee, the WOA team, the NOAs who voted, and our new members for their dedication and hard work.”
The new NOAs will have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming WOA Extraordinary General Assembly in Lausanne, Switzerland in October, joining other member associations.
Olympians interested in joining their NOA can refer to the NOA Directory. For those in countries without an NOA who are interested in starting one, the NOA Start-Up Guide and the WOA team at info@thewoa.org are available for assistance.
